Our
Story
Gravesend Rugby Football Club (GRFC) has stood as a cornerstone of Kent rugby since its founding in 1881. At the heart of Rectory Field, the Senior Rugby section combines competitive intensity across regional leagues with an inclusive, community-driven ethos that welcomes players of all experience levels.
The club fields multiple senior sides designed to cater to elite competitors, developing talent, and social players alike:
-
Men's 1st XV: Competes in the Regional London & South East leagues (Level 6), delivering fast-paced, physical rugby on Saturday afternoons.
-
Men's 2nd XV & Social Rugby: Offering a structured bridge between development and competitive rugby, these sides ensure every senior player gets regular game, with our 2XV competing in the Counties Leagues (Level 9).
-
Women's XV (Gravesend Ladies): A rapidly expanding section within the club, building a strong reputation for competitive play, skill development, and team spirit.
-
Academy Transition: A dedicated pathway for U16 to U18 players making the step up into adult rugby, ensuring physical preparation and tactical continuity.
