Gravesend 5 - Sidcup 41

Gravesend were ultimately out thought and out muscled by a strong Sidcup side on a gusty Saturday afternoon.

In front of a large group Gravesend were optimistic choosing to play into a strong wind in the first half. This looked a poor decision as failure to take the kick off allowed Sidcup to gain possession and score with only 3 mins on the clock. A fine Ben Hope try got Gravesend back on parity and for the next 20 minutes neither side made any great inroads.
Gravesend though then got on the wrong side of referee Bill Huntley and were reduced to 13 men. Sidcup made the most of it and scored 19 unanswered points taking advantage of conditions and numbers on the pitch.
At 24-5 with a strong wind Gravesend were not out of it yet but some poor decision making and a failure to respond when Sidcup themselves were reduced to 13 men ultimately cost them dearly. Sidcup on the other hand were more clinical and stronger in all areas essentially bullying the Gravesend forwards out of the game.
With another tough game next week away at Brighton Gravesend will be looking to bounce back and reproduce some of the exciting rugby seen in the earlier games.
