Gravesend served up plenty of festive cheer and they ran in 9 tries against Canterbury 2 in the final Regional 2 South East league fixture before Christmas.

As in recent weeks Gravesend were out of the blocks early scoring twice within the opening 10 minutes. Samraj Chahal and Chris Shorter were the ones to touch down and give the home side and early lead. Fellow forward Lewis White then added another before George Bruce capitalised on an overthrown lineout to run in as Canterbury defence went missing.
Josh Barnes was next to benefit as Anne collected the ball and out sprinted the Canterbury defence. George Bruce made it two for the day on 33 minutes with a fine dummy and run in from 15 metres. At this point with the score at 36-0 Gravesend eased off and allowed the visitors back in the game.
The second half was slow starting before Josh Harris got his first senior try capitalising on some fine forward work. The forwards have watched the backs score some fine tries this season yet this was their time. Les Falefatu added a brace in the latter half of the match which was separated by a consolation for the visiting side.
With Josh Barnes reliable from the tea and the Bruce brothers (Matt and George) joint Players of the Match this was a fine all round team performance.
Gravesend are now 5th in the league with the next game on 10th January versus high flying Sidcup.
