Gravesend slipped to their second consecutive defeat against high flying Sutton & Epsom.

Unlike the previous week against Brighton when they felt hard done by, this week they could have no complaints.  All too often Gravesend were guilty of coughing up possession or making simple errors which gifted the opposition good field advantage.

In Sutton & Epson, Gravesend found a side altogether more clinical and who took their opportunities.   Having recovered from two early setbacks a try by  Josh Mackenzie and another fine effort from Ben Hope saw scores locked at 12-12 when one of the many errors by the home side gifted Sutton a good attacking opportunity from which they scored on the stroke of half-time to give them the advantage 19-12.

With whatever wind there was in their favour one might have thought Gravesend had the slight advantage going into the second half.   What ensued though was a tepid affair with only glimpses of what they were capable of. It was no surprise when Sutton took the opportunity of a penalty to extend their lead to 10 points and then sealed off a good away win with a final try by the forwards.

Next week Gravesend travel to league newcomers Bromley
