Canterbury IIs 27 - Gravesend 43

Gravesend produced a dazzling display against the City side to claim a bonus point alongside a six try haul and remain undefeated heading into the rest weekend.

Things did not start so well for the Gs as Canterburys bigger more physical pack made I Road and scored the opener after only 3 minutes.  The reply was immediate when Samraj Chahal scored from a maul before the impressive Josh Barnes used his electric pace to break clear and score out wide.

Les Falefatu continued his form and scored from close in before Andrew Cooke danced around the defence and ran in from fully 60 metres and gain Gravesend the bonus point before half time.

Quick thinking from Zac Filmer just after the break saw him capitalise on a fine counter ruck to run in a score within a minute of the restart.   With the wind at their backs Gravesend may have thought an easy win was coming but Canterbury had other ideas.   Gravesend were reduced to 13 men yet produced a fine team try with Callum Smith being on the end of fine play from forwards and backs.  Canterbury responded with a try before Man of the Match Ben Hope ran a great line to scamper home under the posts.   With the game won Gravesend were guilty of over playing and allowed Canterbury to score two tries in the closing moments.
